"Spider" (so named for his long arms and legs) is among the Pistons' all-time leaders in blocked shots. The first round pick out of Georgia Tech, holds GT's blocked shot record and has had his number 22 retired. After joining the Pistons, became close friends with Adrian Dantley, who taught him the benefits of a proper diet, exercise, vitamins, etc., and called Dantley "Teacher". Salley, good friends with Eddie Murphy, made several appearences at comedy clubs in the off-season.
Career highlights:
- Drafted 1st round, 11th overall, by Detroit in 1986 out of Georgia Tech
- Holds Georgia Tech's blocked shot record (243)
- Traded to the Miami Heat for rights to Isiah Morris and a draft pick, September 1992 and later drafted by the Toronto Raptors in the expansion draft
